Here are some of the most asked questions:

How can I reduce my chances of infection?

Experts still are not sure how the coronavirus is spread or how to cure it but the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that doing the following will help in preventing the spread.

  • -Avoid close contact with people that are sick.
  • -Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth and keeping your hands away from your face in general as much as possible.
  • -Stay home if you are sick or feel like you may be getting sick.
  • -Wash your hands VERY often.
  • -Cover your cough with a clean tissue.
  • -Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and items you use regularly with Clorox wipes, and disinfectant spray.
  • -Wash bedding and clothing often.

Should I stock up on supplies?

When in these types of health scares, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security recommends that although you may already have them stocking up on water, non-prescription medication, and food is a good idea. Stocking up on household items and making sure you have cleaning supplies on hand is also recommended as they may be on shortage and hard to get in the time of need.

Is it safe to travel?

The CDC has a list that we have made available here that recommends the places in which you should avoid traveling to such as China, Italy, Iran, and Japan and those that you should use precautions when considering traveling to such as Hong Kong.  When traveling in the U.S. please make sure to wash hands and avoid large crowds of people.

Should my children still attend school?

If your child is sick, they should stay home. In Ohio it has been state mandated that schools will be shutdown for 3 weeks as of March 16, 2020. Many schools will be experiencing extended closures.

Will I be able to see my doctor and receive my normal prescriptions?

You should be able to see your regular doctor and health services will continue as normal but expect that there may be delays or increase in patients causing longer wait times. A lot of offices offer the option to contact providers via messages and as well on telehealth for remote patients. If you need prescriptions contact your doctor soon to be sure you can have all of your required medication.

Should I be wearing a face mask?

Face masks should only be wore if your doctor recommended it or you are presenting signs of the coronavirus or your currently infected with the virus to keep from spreading it to others.

What if I or someone I love is infected?

Stay home and avoid contact with the public and other family members. Avoid animals, other people in your home and isolate yourself in your home and contact your doctor that you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms so the office or hospital can prepare for you to come in and your doctor can follow up with you on the measures you need to take to ensure your treated and to eliminate the spread to others.
